As bidders become to be increasingly mature art collectors, they also become more selective in bidding. Therefore, in our second Fine Art auction this year we will feature only ninety-six lots. As many among the lots are great works of art with high aesthetic and historical value, we hope that art collectors will be able to better enjoy viewing and bidding for the select collection we feature.

Many unique artworks can be found in this auction. For those who enjoy Balinese art, there are Nadera's Bali Life (lot #17) and Wiranata's Morning View on the Valley (lot #25) among other traditional and modern works by Balinese artists. A painting by the famous Antonio Blanco Balinese Dancer (lot #51) is also offered.

There is also an especially fascinating artwork by hyperrealist Dede Eri Supria. His painting, At the Barber's (lot #69) shows a glimpse of life in Jakarta in the 1980s. Meanwhile two paintings by Soedibio shows different views of the maestro. His Perahu Kusamba (lot #84) is a pleasant rendition of the fishermen's coastal village of Kusamba, while Pemandangan (lot #92) painted by the same artist, portrays a rather surrealistic scene of a mountainous landscape. Both are intriguing, yet one offers a calm and peaceful nuance, while the other seems to lead the viewer to ponder beyond the depicted scenery. Indeed, there are quite a number of special paintings in this sale.

Yet, the main highlights of our auction are artworks from three collections of prominent persons and families. From the estate of the late Dr. Sarwono and Sophie Sarwono, we can find works by Ernst Dezentjé, a Dutch painter living in the area of Megamendung, Bogor, who became the couple's friend (lots #56, #58, #61 & #62), as well as a painting by the painter's adopted son, Djupriani (lot #59). Shopping (lot #60), a painting by the famous Abdul Aziz, with whom the couple was also acquainted, is also one of the paintings in this collection.

The collection of the late Lambertus Nicodemus Palar, the first Indonesian Representative to the United Nations, includes two works by Salim (lots #80 & #81) and an Affandi self-portrait (lot #82).

We conclude the auction with the art collection of the late Raden Achmad Kosasih which includes a number of formidable paintings of early Indonesian art, including Abedi's Modjang Priangan (lot #93), Sudjono Abdullah's Waves of The Sea (lot #94), Dezentje's Karang Hawu (lot #95), and Agus Djaya's Tari Api di Ceylon (lot #97) which comes from the late 1950s and early 1960s, as well Lee Man Fong's Two Doves (lot #98) and Srihadi Soedarsono's Houses in a Dutch Village (lot #96), which was collected in the late 1970s or early 1980s.

Indeed, the most exciting lots usually come from the collections of past connoisseurs who have become detached from the current network of present-day art collectors. These collections usually consist of a select number of authentic artworks are quite scarce. Therefore, everytime we do come across one or two, it give us great satisfaction and pride, especially because we know that it will bring pleasure to our valued clients who also would like to bid and acquire the great art pieces for their collection.

We hope that in our select auction this time, there will be some pieces in our auctions that will be of interest to you. Happy viewing and bidding!
