Age "Tutu" Airlangga

(b. Jakarta, 1970)

Age "Tutu" Airlangga was born and raised in Jakarta, Indonesia. He started his career as a freelance illustrator and in 2000 began to pursue his interest in Graffiti and Street Art.

The saturation of the uniformity of the street art scene made him further develop and explore conceptual and visual materials without leaving the historical component in his path.

In his works, visuals with hidden meanings often appear which often leave pieces of the puzzle to be solved. Everything is summarized in complexity and precision in a parallel world side by side with real life.

(b. Jakarta, 1996)

He graduated from Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) majoring in Fine Art in 2019.

Andre Suryawan

(b. Karawang, W. Java, 1970)

Education Institute Technology Bandung majoring in Fine Art. Andre Suryaman received his Bachelor's degree from Bandung's Institute of Technology. Currently living in Yogyakarta, his works explore Javanese interiors and surroundings of the city.



Atreyu Moniaga

(b. Pontianak, W. Kalimantan, 1988)

He graduated from the Jakarta Institute of Arts (Institut Kesenian Jakarta) in 2006-2011.

Atreyu Moniaga is bringing his message of the way he feels towards the things around him through art. Raised in Jakarta, Atreyu Moniaga's encounter with art scheme came from his involvement with art ever since he was in college. Started his interest as a photographer and illustrator, Atreyu Moniaga's works are inspired by life, stories, and sadness. Somehow he found himself inspired and obsessed with dark fantasy, surreal things, and a little bit of creep.

Gatot Widodo

(b. Bojonegoro, E. Java, 1968)

He graduated from the Indonesia Institute of Arts (ISI)Yogyakarta in 1988. Held his first solo exhibition; Not so big, but there is lots to see” in Bali in 1999. Gatot's work has been exhibited in Indonesia, Singapore and Hong Kong. Gatot depicts figures reminiscent of the Wayang Kulit (Javanese leather shadow puppets). His floating figures, head looking upwards, imply a fairy tale and offer a sense of mystery. Gatot lives and works in Jakarta.



Godod Sutejo

(b. Wonogiri, C. Java, 1953)

Godod Sutejo started his career as a painter at the Pasar Seni Jaya Ancol, North Jakarta, Indonesia. Typical to his styles are lonely depictions of nature, where human figures are miniscule in comparison to the size of his canvases.

Awards received include the Best Sketch and watercolour from in 1986 and Best Oil Painting in 1990, both from ISI Yogyakarta. In 1991 he obtained scholarship of Supersemar and achieved best painting award at Islami Exhibition in Ajiyasa Building.

Iwan Sulistyo JB

(b. Kudus, C. Java, 1954)

Iwan Sulistyo has won the honor of several awards since he was a young painter. While still in elementary school, Iwan already showed signs of his passion for painting, beginning his debut by making numerous pictures of his favorite movie stars, of animals, and natural sceneries using color pencil, ballpoint and/or watercolors. His high-school years were spent in Semarang, where he participated in a drawing competition organized by the Gallendra Art Shop in 1970 and, there, for the very first time, he came in touch with oil-colors. He won First Prize. Since then, he has never stopped painting. JB Iwan Sulistyo brushed up his skills by studying Fine Art at Trisakti University; he also took up one year painting classes at the Jakarta Art Institute and was actively involved in the community of artists Sanggar as he became member of Sanggar Prima Devita (1983) and Sanggar Kamboja Bali (1991). Jeihan Sukmantoro

(Solo, C. Java 1938 - Bandung, W Java 2019)

In 1953-1955 Jeihan Sukmantara studied painting at HBS/Himpunan Budaya Surakarta under the guidance of Sumitro Hendronoto. From 1960-1966, he studied painting at ITB (Bandung Institute of Technology). He has had solo exhibitions in Jakarta, Bandung, Solo and Surabaya in Indonesia, Rome (Italy) and Paris (France). He has participated in numerous group exhibitions in Indonesia, United States of America, Algeria, the Netherlands and Switzerland. In 1978, he established the Studio Seni Rupa Bandung (Bandung Fine Arts Studio) with Dr. Sudjoko.



Johan Abe

Kei Kusuma is a self-taught graphic artist currently based in Indonesia. Having a huge interest in visual artistry since early age, he has begin studying how to draw and creating images by himself since very early age. Started as an instinct, he has continued his endless endeavor of practice until now.



Koempoel Soejatno

(Ngawi, E. Java, 1912 - 1987)

A self-taught artist, Koempoel Soejatno, was educated at the HIS/Hollandsch Inlandsche School and BAT/Burgelijk Ambacht School. He was inspired by the works of Dutch artists, Gerard Pieter Adolfs and Willem van der Does. He held a solo exhibition in Surabaya in 1986.



Krijono

(Jakarta, 1951 - 2011)

Predominantly a self-taught artist, Bram only studied how to paint under the guidance of senior painter Barli Sasmitawinata in Bandung. Over the years, he has participated in group exhibitions and currently lives in Ubud, Bali since 1992.



Krisna Murti

(b. Kupang, E. Nusa Tenggara, 1957)

Krisna Murti studied at the School of Art and Design Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) Bandung (1976 - 1981). His solo exhibition was held at the Sika Contemporary Art Gallery, Ubud, Bali, Indonesia. Although he often paints expressive dancing figures, he is also famous as a multi-media installation artist.



Leo Eland

(Salatiga, C. Java Indonesia 1884 - The Netherlands, 1952)

Eland is a dutch self-taught artist who lived and worked in Indonesia until 1920. Amongst others, he visited the islands of Sumatra, Java, Sulawesi, Bali. Eland participated in several exhibitions organised by the Bataviasche Kunstkring, but then settled in The Hague in 1920. He later returned to Indonesia for a brief period in 1929 to prepare for large-scale Indonesia dioramas he was producing for several World Fairs. His work was selected for the International Colonial Exposition in Paris in 1931.



Mansyur Mas'ud

(b. Ujung Pandang, S. Sulawesi, 1960)

Mansyur Mas'ud studied painting at the Indonesian Art Institute, Yogyakarta, majoring in Graphic Design. He graduated with a Bachelor's degree. He has held numerous solo and group exhibitions.



Mara Karma

(Bukittinggi, 1926 - Jakarta 2001)

Mara Karma obtained a formal education in the study of Painting when he was at INS Kayutanam, he was guided by Wakidi and Moh. Sjafei. However, he was more well known as a reporter, editor, columnist and a writer. He lived in Jakarta.



Maria Tjui

(Pariaman, W. Sumatra, 1934 - Bogor, W Java. 2016)

Maria Tjui started painting when she was a member of S.I.M (Young Indonesian Artist) under the guidance of S. Sudjojono. In 1961 - 1963, she studied at the Indonesia Academy of Fine Arts, Yogyakarta, majoring in Sculpture. In 1967-1970 she made a tour of several Asian countries. When she returned to Indonesia, she exhibited her works around Indonesia.



Miro

(b. Surabaya, E. Java, 1984)

Kemas Said Maulana, he is familiarly called Miro. He is the son of Agus Kemas and Missrukiah who also works as a national painter. In 2002 he studied art at STKW Surabaya but did not finish. Currently he resides in Sumenep, Madura.

He started painting in 2009.



Muchlis Fachri "Muklay"

(b. Jakarta, 1993)

Muchlis Fachri “Muklay” has been interested in visual art since he studied at Jakarta State University and still actively participating in group exhibitions. Together with Puji, he decided to create a merchandise collaboration project called "Junknotdead" @junknotdead_id in 2013. And in 2014, he and his friend set up a collective artist initiative that comes from different visual art backgrounds and cities. He has tried almost every medium to make artwork like drawing, painting, woodcut, street art, digital, animation, and performance art.

Nyoman Gunarsa

(Klungkung, Bali, 1944 - 2017)

Nyoman Gunarsa is a graduate of the Indonesian Academy of Fine Arts (ASRI) in Yogyakarta, where he was also a lecturer for many years. In 1970, he was one of the co-founders of Sanggar Dewata Indonesia. He has received multiple awards since the 1960s, including the Pratisara Affandi Adhi Karya from STSRI “ASRI” Yogyakarta; Best Painting Award at the Indonesian Painting Biennial in 1978 and 1980; Lempad Prize awarded by the Governor of Bali. Gunarsa has participated in dozens of exhibitions throughout Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, U.S.A, Germany, the Netherlands, France and Italy. He was one of the invited artists at the Art of Bali exhibitions, the East-West Center in Honolulu, Hawaii, in 1998. He established the Museum of Contemporary Indonesian Painting in Yogyakarta in 1989, and the Museum of Classical Balinese Painting in Klungkung in 1994. His expressionistic style feature offerings, dancers, and wayang (puppets).



Popo Iskandar

(Garut, W. Java, 1927 - Bandung, W, Java, 2000)

Popo Iskandar began painting in 1944 as a poster painter for the information service in Indonesian Armed Forces. In 1958, he graduated from the Department of Art in Bandung Institute of Technology/ITB). He was a lecturer assistant at ITB from 1957 to 1961, and additionally lectured in the Art Department of IKIP/Teacher's Training Institute, Bandung for many years. He held several solo exhibitions in Jakarta, Yogyakarta, Medan (Indonesia), the Hague and the Leiden (The Netherlands). He participated in numerous group exhibitions in Indonesia, China, UK, India, Japan, America, Netherlands and Brazil. Popo was also an art critic and essayist of art and literature. He was chosen as a lifetime member of the Jakarta Academy in 1970. He received the Anugerah Seni Art Award from the Indonesian Government in 1980.



Rachmansjah, D. J.

(b. Sumedang, W. Java, 1942)

Rachmansjah graduated from the Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), majoring in Painting and Arts. He has been actively involved in more than 70 exhibitions in Indonesia since 1962. To educate his knowledge for Art, Rahmansyah often visited galleries and museums around the world. His work is admired for his ability to capture the vivacity of women.



Rob Pearce

(b. Kaduna. Nigeria, British, 1962)

His work expresses his response to Jakarta over a forty-year period, from the time I first arrived as a youth in the late 1970s to when I returned full time in the early 1990s.

Originally trained as a documentary photographer, one of he first modes of expression was photographing posters on walls around Jakarta.

He current mixed media work is he way of creating that process myself, of choosing text and building layers of images onto a frame that is then subjected to the random effects of weathering, stripping, and other chemical reactions in order to create a scenario in which luck plays a significant part of the final product.



Robby Garsia

(b. Sungailiat, Bangka Belitung, 1995)

Robby Garsia is an emerging artist who believes in self reflection. In his works, Robby often takes on sentimental themes like families, relationships and human emotions. He plays with composition and texture to express sense about lonesome in this modern times. Besides engaging himself as an art worker, he sometimes participates as a model in several photography projects and fashion runways.He has held solo exhibition Senda Sendu Sendir, curated by Nin Djani, Atreyu Moniaga Project, Ruang Seduh Kemang, Jakarta, 2016.

Royatna

(b. Bandung, W. Java, 1960)

Royatna is also called Yayat Jukut by his artist friends. His artworks often show grass, as it holds a personal significance to him in its representation of life. He has held numerous exhibitions in Yogyakarta and Bandung.



Sabar Jambul

(b. Salatiga, C. Java, 1977)

He graduated from High School, Kutoarjo, Central Java

Since 2015, Sabar Jambul specifies his works on the world of the kids with their innocence, simplicity and purity. Through his works, Sabar wants to bring up the perspective of the kids such as how they react to the environment, the place they grow and the process of nowadays kids growing. At the same time, Sabar also wants to represent himself in some of his works and visualize his childhood memories.

Sani, Ni Nyoman

(b. Sanur, Bali, 1975)

Sani has been dedicated to the Fine Arts. She completed the coaching period found in her formal education at STI (Fine Art Institute) in Denpasar, Bali (2001). She has participated in several group exhibitions in Indonesia as well as in the International arena, including shows in Koln (Germany), Melbourne (Australia) and Singapore.



Setiawan Suhud

(b. Pati, C. Java, 1957)

He has artworks in naturalist style with the theme of figures, such as dancers and the theme of daily activities. His work is often included in exhibitions and auctions at ArtFordable Auction.



Soni Irawan

(b. Yogyakarta, 1975)

He studied in the Visual Art Faculty (Fine Arts Department), majoring in Printmaking in the Indonesian Art Institute situated in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. A musician and one of the founders of a Jogjakarta experimental band Seek Six Sick, Soni's art is greatly influenced by the spirit and energy of rock music. His canvases are filled with spontaneous strokes, sketchy figures and cut out pieces, with the medium of oil bars chosen for their characteristic feel of roughness and boldness. His subject matter, however, tends to be largely personal topics that revolve around his family, environment and his underlying interest in capturing the spirit of human survival in everyday life.

He graduated from Institute STSI Denpasar in 1977. He was learnt painting since he was a child.

Sudjono Abdullah

(Yogyakarta, 1911 - 1992)

Sudjono Abdullah, son of Abdullah Suriosubroto, is well known as a landscape painter. A graduate of HIS, he worked as a drafter for the Rex Theatre in Yogyakarta, though also received special order paintings. During the Japanese occupation of Indonesia, he developed his skill at Parangtritis beach in Yogyakarta. Later, Abdullah moved to Salatiga, where he met with Ho Liong Hwie, who give him the assistance and motivation that led him to become confident and ultimately famous for his landscapes.



Tavip KS

(b. Banjarnegara, C. Java, 1965)

He is one of the young artist that is talented with realistic style. He started his career as an artist in 1990.



Untung Wahono

(b. Yogyakarta, 1962)

Untung Wahono participated in the group exhibition Jakarta On The Spot, at Plaza Indonesia and Galeri Pasar Seni, Jakarta, 2004. He received award from the President of Indonesia (Rumah Kepresidenan Istana Negara) in 2002.



Warman Anwar

(b. Bandung, W. Java 1934)

He graduated from Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) in 1960.

He joined with Kelompok Arpel 2 and he has actively participate in group exhibition since 2000 until now.



Wiradana, I Made

(b. Denpasar, Bali, 1968)

After receiving his basic art education from the Fine Art High School (SMSR) in Batubulan, Bali, Wiradana continued to pursue his art education at the Indonesian Art Institute (Institut Seni Indonesia/ISI) in Yogyakarta. There, he received awards for his sketches and paintings. He is a member of Bali's Sanggar Dewata Bali and has an interest in ancient cave paintings from Sulawesi.
