The Semanggi Tragedy refers to two incidents in
thamrin, miSBach Jakarta, when state troops opened fire on unarmed
(b. Amuntai, S. Kalimantan, 1941)
civilians and protesters during special sessions
of parliament. Seventeen people were killed and
Tragedi Semanggi (Semanggi Tragedy)
about 400 were wounded in the first incident,
2015 known as Semanggi I, which took place on 13
oil on canvas November 1998. Twelve people were killed and
150 x 250 cm
more than 200 wounded in the second incident,
Semanggi II, which took place on 24 September
signed and dated (lower right):
”M. Thamrin 2015” 1999. The fact that these two incidents were often
overlooked in the history of political reforms in
Rp. 30 - 45.000.000 Indonesia is what prompted Misbach Thamrin to
US$ 2.143 - 3.214 paint this monumental painting.
